Welcome to the wellaware list at cleannorth.org.

This email is going to people who attended a Well Aware workshop for 
information providers, last Wednesday at the Holiday Inn Sault Ste. Marie, 
and who gave us an email address then.

The purpose of this list is to share information and plan effective ways to 
reach the public with a consistent message about well water safety.  Please 
send messages to the list if you or your organization is planning any 
outreach methods/events/publications that others may want to take part in 
or help plan.  We're hoping this becomes as effective as Clean North's 
other planning lists, to help people communicate and work together.

There are sixteen subscribers to this list at present (which means seven of 
those present at last week's workshop didn't give us an email - so we'll 
want to be careful to include them some other way if they wish).  The list 
is open, so anyone may subscribe by going to http://lists.cleannorth.org 
and following the directions there.  So if someone you know is keen to 
participate, please tell them to subscribe to this list.

To send a message to this list, type wellaware@lists.cleannorth.org in the 
To: field of your message.  That will send your message to all subscribers 
to the list, and a copy to the list archives.

Messages to this list will be archived forever, are publicly accessible 
through http://lists.cleannorth.org, and can be searched, so there are a 
few things to keep in mind when writing to the group.

First, please use clear and concise Subject lines - that's what people will 
see first and decide whether to read your message, and you might want to 
see your own message in the archives later.  The Subject line will help you 
find it.

If you want to reply to a message, use Reply All in your email program, 
then delete any individual email addresses, so that you include the list in 
your reply and not just the sender of the first message.  But if your 
message is about something new, not mentioned in the message you're 
replying to, don't use Reply, please start a new message with a new Subject 
line.

Second, because these messages are open to the public and will be there 
"forever", please be courteous always.  That way you'll never be 
embarrassed by anything that appears here.  Please remember that emails can 
generate misunderstandings, and don't flame anyone here, resolve the issue 
if necessary, by phone or in person.

Last, please don't post any email addresses in the body of your messages. 
Because our archives are open to the public, spammers can nab email 
addresses off our list archives.  We all get enough spam to clog our 
productivity already, we don't need any more!  The IT people at 
cleannorth.org have a good setup for snagging spam, so you shouldn't get 
any through the list itself, but if a list of emails is posted, no 
guarantees!  If you need to know who's subscribed to this list (and who 
isn't subscribed but was there last week), I can send it to you in a 
private message.

And, if you ever find that you are no longer interested in this topic or 
the email burden is too onerous, you can unsubscribe yourself by going to 
http://lists.cleannorth.org and following the instructions there.
