in-kind SSM

I met this morning with Charlotte Mandolesi of the United Way Volunteer
Centre, to talk about the charities reuse centre website. She loved the
idea and confirmed that there is no one in the Sault doing anything like
this to date. There have been many discussions in the past from many
agencies, wishing for a place to take surplus stuff or dig through
other's surplus. The logistics of such a place have always thwarted any
progress on the idea. She was thrilled with the website idea.

I suggested to her that it might be ready for the new year, that it was
about 70% complete but without our summer student working on it and with
our web developer going off travelling until 4 December I'm not sure how
much more progress will be made in the near future. She suggested she
would mention it in the News&Views newsletter that goes out to the
nonprofit sector here.

I think I should write an advance piece for the News&Views, asking for
input from the nonprofits about how this could work (what would they
like to see). That way we've solicited input and we can incorporate the
best ideas (and leave the rest). It also means they will have had a
heads up on it and will be more ready to participate when it goes
online.

Any suggestions on what should be asked in this advance article, I'm all
ears.
