Subject: sale of remote car starters

I am expressing my deep concern and disappointment by the Canadian Tire Corporation (CTC)to continue to sell remote car starters. These devices represent a serious risk to human health, air quality, the environment and Canada's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, even when used as directed - they needlessly, and in many Canadian municipalities illegally, exacerbate air pollution and climate changes. I have previously encouraged the Canadian Tire Corporation to remove these products from sale. I can only assume that since they continue to appear on CTC store shelves and in very inappropriate advertisements (depicting an individual eating breakfast and reading the newspaper while starting their car), that CTC has a poor corporate understanding and respective policies in regards of human health, the environment and sustainable development. As this is out of step with Canadian values, I am encouraging all my friends, colleagues and acquaintances to avoid purchasing consumer products from CTC stores until this situation is corrected.

Right on Robert!! You can count on me to spread the word. Maybe we should boycot Tim Hortons drive throughs while were at it, another major source of idling (certainly in Sault Ste Marie). Motorists should be aware that they also breathe the exaust fumes that is expelled by the car in front of them.

Please pass this along to anyone who cares about this planet.
