Cambrian Mall and tables

Here’s another bit for the record.

This year they lent us the remaining four of their old scrappy wooden tables and the two worst of their new vinyl laminate over particleboard tables. They were concerned that the new tables are more easily damaged particularly if they get wet. We took care not to scratch the tables in transit and did not use the vinyl covered tables in the food service area.

On chipping day we only used the four old wooden tables in the food service area, as they would be slopped with food, beverage and dishwashing spills. Perhaps Clean North should invest in some wooden tables as the mall is slowly getting rid of their wooden tables as they need repair?

We made arrangements for the tables before Christmas with Brad Vessey.

We confirmed arrangements for the tables with Octave Landry the Tuesday of the week we needed them.

We picked up the six tables on Friday afternoon. The mall had them waiting on a cart in a vacant retail space.

We stored the tables overnight wrapped in tarp under one of the Danby tents.

We returned the tables to the mall on Sunday afternoon; the empty cart was found in the same vacant retail area where the tales came on Friday so we loaded it and returned it to the same place.

There was a bit of a problem cleaning the wooden tables at the end of the event before they could be returned; the Scouts had left and there was no hot water. As the temperature was –10 dC water froze on the tables when you tried to wipe them so copious amounts of hot water were necessary to melt off the frozen food and drink stuck to the tables; we had to wait for water to heat in an electric coffee urn.
