Re: Tree Chipping Food Service - Comments from Doug Grainger
Hi Andrea:
No real need to rewrite the report as all messages sent to treechip@lists.cleannorth.org get archived. That's what I did when I sent you Doug's report (and this one).
So in future please include treechip@lists.cleannorth.org in the distribution for any e-mail containing information relevant to the project. That way it goes to everyone on the committee and it gets recorded in an electronic archive.
Next year you and I should both make contact with the Scouts (actually they were Venturers this year). Assuming it's Doug Grainger again it would be simple enough to cc one another on e-mail.
As far as I know vinegar is not a disinfectant. You might check on non-chlorine bleach as an alternative.
As far as hot chocolate goes, Doug made a specific suggestion about chocolate syrup and can provide info on suppliers (I had forgotten that Nestle products are evil).
Who writes the thank you notes is a good question. As far as I know Clean North has not done so in the past (apart from the thank you ad in the Sault Star). We probably should be paying more attention to this. So please go ahead and send notes to all your food donation people. It seems like the right thing to do.

>Would it be easier if the person in charge of food makes the contact with the Boy Scouts?
>Can vinegar be used instead of bleach as a disinfectant? There is probably some AHU stipulation that bleach be used?
>I'll look for some non-Nestle hot chocolate syrup product for next year.
