Hi Peter,I can't offer much on the .abw files - they're AbiWord, which was an ancient word processor. Perhaps try to open them up using various word processor software, even Notepad.
for .pmd, those are Pagemaker files. You can run Pagemaker from Wedge, the southernmost computer on the client wall. It's not software we keep on all computers as we only have one license for it and it's expensive.
But if you log in on Wedge you should be able to open .pmds. If any trouble with this, I may be able to help further. I can meet you down there to try to help later.
Good luck! k--On Wednesday, July 11, 2007 11:16 AM -0400 Peter McLarty <peter@cleannorth.org> wrote:

It then instructs me to go to the website and "search" the "techies" archive. There is no search function other than to open each item, many of which are blank documents. Please advise. Thanks Peter
