I'm sorry... I forgot to mention that after a re-install, everything was as
it was before the hard drive was found to be dead... (ie all pear shaped)...

We decided it was a Shaw problem, since we could send out data and couldn't
receive any... so I called them up and... well... for the record, here's
what I received when we got our static IP:

So we've been using this IP for over a year... what do they tell me today?
"That IP is allocated for DHCP addresses.  You'll have to use
24.70.136.250."

I ask you, what's the poitn in having a static IP if they change it on you
without telling you????

ARGH!

OK... sleep now.  Wait for DNS changes to filter around the world.
