System Recovery Disc & System Outage

First thing's first... can someone with a system recovery disc meet me at
the office at around 6:00 tomorrow (Thursday)? I need to recover the UPS
config files from it... and maybe my packet filter rules... (I hope)!

Second... the system outage today... it started at about 9:33am. The office
network lost all external connectivity. I suspected a Shaw problem and
asked Jim to look at it. Jim went down at 12pm, and poked around, finding
that one could aquire an address by DHCP directly on the modem, but our
router refused to communicate with the world. It would send traffic out,
but nothing would come back. During the course of this debugging, he
discovered that the system hard drive in the router was dead.

Jim started dismantling the router, and I headed down there at about 4pm.
We selected a new disk for the router and replaced the dead drive. After a
re-install, we re-generated the VPN scripts and the NAT rules. The PF rules
have yet to be recreated, and it will not signal the other servers of a
power failure yet. Apart from that, all should be well.

Enough of that... I'm going to bed!
