Bobafett died today for the first time since I installed it in August. It was responding to pings, but would not allow any tcp connections. I called Bob at SooNet, and gave him the root password to reboot it, however, the local console was not responding, so after a hard boot we are running again. I can narrow the time of the crash to a 30min window between HTTP requests: 207.75.210.193 - - [21/Mar/2002:14:41:54 -0500] "GET /glimpse.pl?section=answerbook&q=who+recycles+cardboard+in+sault+ste.+marie+mi HTTP/1.0" 200 6447 192.197.114.35 - - [21/Mar/2002:15:17:36 -0500] "GET / HTTP/1.1" 200 22238 Unfortunately, the logs don't give me any clue as to why the machine died. We didn't so much as see a kernel panic. That leads me to believe we may have a hardware issue. I'll keep a close eye on it. -Dan PS. After telling Bob the root password, I set a new one. Anyone who should have it knows my cell number.
