No bother. Just creates extra mail sorting on my end and reduces the number
of people that can help you to one. Where's that contact odin reference?
I should fix it.

We've got a document that goes out to each new user. It outlines the steps
to take if you have a problem. If your account was created in haste, you
probably never saw it.

#1 look on the big yellow question mark on the desktop (help site)
#2 search the mailing list archives for a solution to the problem
(http://lists.cleannorth.org/)
#3 email techies@lists.cleannorth.org
#4 email me <odin@cleannorth.org> or jim <fractured@shaw.ca>
#5 send me an ICQ message #2624301
#32768 phone me

Personal email is good if you want to contact _me_ (for something like an
web account creation or you need your password reset), but if you just have a
general support question, the steps above should usually find you an answer
by the time you hit step 2 and the rest of the time, by the time you hit
step 3.

I don't understand what you mean by this.

Let's see if I can go over this from the beginning, and maybe I'll solve
your problem with a general explanation of what's going on.

There are two different types of user accounts right now (I'm working on
synching them, but I haven't gotten that done yet). They are user accounts,
and web accounts.

Right now, you have both, however, they can have different passwords.

Web accounts are used when you go to http://cleannorth.org/ and click login.
They're not used anywhere else.

User accounts are used for http://webmail.cleannorth.org/, they're used to
feed to Pegasus/Mulberry when you check your mail from the office, and
they're used to log in to the NT machines there.

Make sure you're using the correct username/password pair for the correct
place, or the system won't let you on.

Your browser is the program you use to access web sites. Usually Internet
Explorer or Netscape, but there are many others, such as Opera, Amaya, w3m,
lynx, etc. It doesn't enter in to the equation, unless you've done
something like explicitly disabled cookie support (but that would break a
ton of other sites, so I think you'd notice it).

SSL isn't a requirement anymore for any of the Clean North web stuff. Did
you find a reference to it on the website? If so, where? I'd like to
remove it.

These days you won't find very many browsers without SSL. (Mozilla doesn't
have it by default, and neither does lynx or Amaya, but you can add it in
the former two).
