No, I don't think so, but we all have a google window open and ready to
answer questions. :)

The annoying welcome message... I spent 30sec once trying to figure out why
it kept recurring, but since I don't use the thing myself I didn't care too
much... now to do a google search:

http://www.sympaticousers.org/faq/opsys_software.htm is offline, but it's
cached:

I've already fixed it for new users. I'll correct it for existing users
sometime this evening when it's late enough I can be sure you've all logged
off.

user_pref("mailnews.start_page.enabled", false);

in prefs.js and liprefs.js
both in U:\netscape\defaultuser

But don't worry about it, I'll get it.

find . -name 'prefs.js' -o -name 'liprefs.js' -exec echo \
  'user_pref("mailnews.start_page.enabled", false);' >> {} \;

But you need to be logged out for that, so don't expect to see the results
until tomorrow... and don't expect them to be tested. I don't have the
thing set up. :)
