Here is a draft of my letter/response to Megan...peter May 7, 2008 Good Morning MeganThank you for attending our meeting last evening and for giving us some background on the SNWMC. We discussed your request for office space for an intern for a 12 month period and we are please to say that we would like to accomodate your request.
First I should give you a little background on Clean North. We are a not-for-profit registered charity composed of a dozen core volunteers who coordinate community environmental projects. We have a list of over 100 members/volunteers whom we can rely on to carry out our projects. We operate a "storefront" information office which is presently staffed (sporadically) by volunteers and funded by proceeds of our projects and voluntary charitable donations. It costs us about $1200 per month to operate our office and we are constantly in search of revenues to keep the doors open.
Having said that, we would be delighted to offer you the space and would hope that you could find the funds for $200 per month rent. Should the monies not be available, we would still like to accomodate your request because you would be helping us to service our larger "community" which extends from Wawa to Blind River.
As outlined at the meeting, should your intern be located in our office we would expect them to meet/greet the public and offer assistance when other volunteers are not present. We would provide you with a phone and computer/internet access through your own "account".
You would have to provide your own liability insurance and WSIB coverage.Hopefully this will work for both parties and we look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely Peter McLarty Clean North volunteer peter@cleannorth.org
