Petition for better tomorrows

I just wanted to provide the people who sincerely care about this prestiges city about the upcoming petition concerning Algoma Steel's irresponsible industrial activities; for example their proposal to operate an additional Blast Furnace without the means to filter out the harmful particulate emissions, the emissions that contribute to cancer, cardiovascular mortalities, trigger asthma events and other respiratory related problems. The way I understand it, there are alternatives and it doesn't have to be this way however it appears the ASI facility is more concerned about its profit margins than whats most important - this is a life and death situation for many of the community's citizens;  it mat not be immediate because of the lag time period between exposure and symptoms but for those who are exposed over the long term,  to levels of respiratory particulate PM2.5,  the future of those individuals, such as children (with underdeveloped lungs) or postmenopausal women and the elderly the final results in the end do not look good. It is now time to act, if not for yourself then for others, I sincerely believe most people care about the environment and the welfare of other people - this petition will, at the very least, give you an opportunity do something really good for your fellow citizens.

I hope I can add your name to the petition when it is finalized in the next week and hopefully endorse the grass roots movement for brighter tomorrows and enhancement of  the quality of life here in Sault Ste. Marie.

Respectfully, Frank McGillivray
