2. Financial Report: Bank balance is $16,800. This balance includes the $5000 received from the City for Tree Chipping.  Ursula to contact Kathie about closing out the second account CN has with the Hong Kong Bank. CN recently received a letter informing us that this account which has about $700 in it has been dormant for past 2 years. It was decided that CN will renew the Green Communities membership for $250 and review this decision next year.
3. EcoEnergy Retrofit Program: Debra Mattson explained that the EcoEnergy Program has replaced the Energuide Program in focusing on residential energy efficiency. Citizens participating in the program receive rebates from the federal government which are matched by the province. Contact 1-877-672-3242 for more info.
4. CLA Computer Recycling: Randy reported that this matter is going to City Council on March 17th, 2008. Jack provided Rob Stenta with a CN letter of support. Peter is willing to act as a CN contact for CLA and keep everyone informed of the initiative's progress.
5. Seedy Saturday: Laura & Suzanne reported on the success of Seedy Saturday event held on Saturday, Feb. 23rd at the United Baptist Church.
Feedback comments:
  • Over 120+ individuals attended.
  • All three speaker presentations were well-received.
  • Vendors and community organizations were very pleased with their sales & interest demonstrated by those who participated in the event. Lots of buzz and energy generated.
  • Donations generated at the door as well as seed sales: $295 approx.
  • Good turnout of volunteers from both CN and the Hort Society.
It was decided that CN will present a cheque of $25 to United Baptist Church custodian as honorarium and donate $100 towards Seeds of Diversity. The event will be held next year around the same time.
6. CN Brochure: Peter is currently revising the brochure which is sadly out of date. He is asking members to submit info on past successes and current projects so that he and Laura can generate a new brochure by May 1st.
7. Mailing List Database: Ursula will write up a telephone script CN volunteers can use when calling people on the database. Database is currently in Excel and needs to be updated.
8. YEP Event: YEP will assist Don with the creation of vermicomposting kits at CN office on March 15th. CN to provide $300 seed money to purchase supplies.
9. Earth Week Event: Ursula and Don to meet this Thursday to review plan of action.
10. Habitat for Humanity ReStore: Peter reported that the ReStore is not generating enough funds to cover operational costs and are looking for volunteers. CN to publicize this need in the Spring Newsletter.

12. Phoenix Rising: Currently running a fundraiser campaign--Silent Auction is scheduled for May 3rd. Looking for donation. Peter will contact Gail MacDonald and inform her that CN will donate a rain barrel for this event.
13. Mayor's Award: Deadline: March 20th. Ursula to fill out form nominating Trans Provincial for this award.
14. Repairs to CN Office ceiling: Ursula has met with our landlord, Dennis L. regarding repairing & painting the damaged ceiling area. If CN or a contractor does the work, we can deduct the expenses from our monthly rent. Ursula has offered to do the work.
