RE: Urgent: Volunteers for Christmas Tree and Styrofoam recycling

As a footnote...

Mary-Jane told me that everyone she called last year was very nice and wanted to help out; almost like they were expecting and waiting for someone to call.  So even though you may not personally know the people you are calling, they will appreciate receiving the call and will already know what the job entails.

Folks:

We need a critical volunteer.  Someone to be the scheduler for the 19 day project at the Cambrian Mall (December 26 to January 13).

Last year Mary Jane did an outstanding job; for several years before that this was Debbie Clark's effort.  Neither of these people are available  this year.

The job entails calling people who helped in the past and getting them scheduled for shifts at the depot.  It's a back and forth process where you call them; they call you back and eventually the schedule fills up.  You can use your personal phone for messages or the Clean North voice mail.  I will provide the blank schedule and be available for training, support and consultation throughout the period.  The work should begin immediately and is ongoing until the end of the project.  It involves communicating with about fifty people by telephone and/or email.

Without someone to be the scheduler the project will become mainly an unmanned depot where we do not collect $$$ donations (over $1000 last year) or provide much by way of customer service.  The volunteers who helped in the past will be somewhat disappointed if they do not have an opportunity to get involved.

Kathie:  Perhaps this could go out as an item in the Members enews?
