Lake Superior Award

to discuss, next CN meeting:

Hello,

Lake Superior is one of the worlds biggest and most unusual lakes and therefore deserves special attention and protection. Do you know of someone whose efforts to protect or restore the basins natural environment are truly 'superior'? If so, help make others in the basin aware of their contributions by nominating them for a binational awards program in the US and Canada.

The nomination period for the awards is now open; deadline for completed applications is Friday, April 15, 2005. Applications may be completed by the nominee (self-nominated) or by making a nomination on anothers behalf. Members of the Lake Superior Work Group and the Lake Superior Binational Forum, two groups of American and Canadian citizens and agency staff working together to protect and restore the lakes natural environment, will review each nomination and select winners from five categories from each country.

Recipients will be chosen and notified by May 10. Each winner will receive a commemorative award and framed certificate.

A full nomination packet is attached. You can also download a nomination form on the Forum's web site: <http://www.superiorforum.infoFor>http://www.superiorforum.info

Help Keep a Great Lake Superior!

*The Lake Superior Binational Program represents a partnership of federal, state, provincial, and First Nations/tribal governments working together with citizens to ensure the protection of the Lake Superior basin ecosystem. The Lake Superior Binational Forum is a citizen stakeholder group of Americans and Canadians who work together to provide input to governments about these efforts and to educate basin residents about ways to protect and restore the lake.

When we walk to the edge of all the light we have and take the step into
the darkness of the unknown, we must believe that one of two things will
happen. There will be something solid for us to stand on, or we will be
taught to fly.
