RE: MNDM proposal

Hello, While I support the intention of this program I think it is pushing
our mandate beyond its limit. I would think that Women in Crisis or some
other agency would be a better fit. Given the viewpoints out there in the
world, this could be used against us by some of those who may view us as
liberal tree hugging do-gooders. That's my 2 cents worth.

Subject: MNDM proposal

I had a call from Bonnie Baranski tonight. She and Gisele Beausoleil are
working on a proposal to MNDM, for $3k, to take 12 women who've been abused
out to Hiawatha for a healing day.

Complete with bonfire, art therapy, survival skills, transportation
to/from, food, etc. This will be on Earth Day 2005, if funded.

She wants CN to front the proposal and control the funds, she'll do the
planning, carrying out, reporting afterwards.

We've worked with Gisele before (the youth painting murals project was
hers). It's a small amount. Nothing for us directly, just a chance to
partner on an interesting EDay event.

What do you think? Deadline is Friday at 4 pm, so I'll go with whatever
people say by noon...

thanks
Kathie
