Hi Peter,
Thanks for taking the initial steps with Al. I'd like to be back in that same building if at all possible, but I acknowledge we need to keep looking.
About the big institutions: I think it worked okay last time, with the acceptance form on the web site. For callers, we can stress that this program, with its free shipping and free recycling service in Richmond Hill, is meant for small business and individuals. Meaning anything more than a pickup truck load is not for this program. (However, don't turn down Great Lakes Power - they give us great stuff!) I think I need to reword the text on the website though, it is a bit awkward. I've put BOYD on the out-going message now, so there should be fewer calls to return on that subject.
Last time less stuff came from the Friday drops than ever before, but we still needed 1 2/3 trucks - so the public swamped us, not the institutions.
There is no point in our filling up a TransPro truck with School Board junk using volunteer labour. If the School Board wants to try to talk TransPro into giving them a free truck and the guy in Richmond Hill into handling their stuff for free, more power to them.
as always, discussion?
k

I talked to Al at the PUC...they stil have plans to move into the Trbovich building March 1 so that he cannot say that it is available to us for the copmputer recycling. He also made a personal assessment that he doubts that they will be using the building when we want it (late April). They have already postponed the move for almost a year! Bottom line ...we should be looking for another building. Any suggestions. I have already talked to Randy for help from the city in finding a more "permanent" location. Question...should we be charging the larger/commercial businesses for the disposal service?? On Wed. I received calls from the city (IT dept.) and the Separate school board about our next event. Both have larger quantities to dispose of. The separate board also had 2 "public sales" last spring and probably sold alot of items that we may have been able to use to recover some of our "costs".
