Bat Day May 16th

Hello all,

Neil and I met yesterday to make some decisions about the bat house 
project.  Because of my being away from May 17-June8, and because we need 
to get bat houses installed before bats get too active and so we can't 
wait, we're planning on the bat house day for May 16th, Friday evening, at 
CTire.  Yes we know that's the long weekend.

We have tentatively planned a work party for the morning of May 10th, to 
get wood cut to size so that constructing bat houses on the evening of the 
16th only involves cordless screwdrivers, not saws and routers.

Neil will:

Finalize the optimum bat house design.  Secure supplies of wood and 
hardware needed to accomplish this.  Plan for the work party.

I will:

write to Matt Lawless at Canadian Tire, enclosing a copy of the proposal, 
to ask for local support.  At a minimum, we need permission to set up our 
tents and sell bat houses on the grassy strip of lawn on the McNabb side of 
the CTire parking lot.  I'm also going to ask for material support, as in, 
screws, safety goggles, and black paint.
Recruit volunteers for the work party on the 10th.  Recruit a location 
(Tim, Peter?) with saw and router.
Ask Don to recruit young people for the 16th.
Ask Suzanne to draft the text for the bat house brochure, for Ashley to put 
it together.
Review what Ashley has done with the mosquito brochure, and make fixes.
Recruit retired Clean North members to sew bags from the fabric leftover 
from the Fabric and Yarn swap, to package these bat houses.
Do some publicity for the 16th.

So, anyone want to help?  Suzanne, can you work on the bat house brochure 
content if Ashley does layout for it?

Don, will you line up some high school age people for 6 - 9 pm on the 16th? 
Tell them they can play with the Batman theme if they want.

Peter, or Tim, can you provide space for a work party on the morning of the 
10th?

Can anyone take on the task of organizing some refreshment for the 
volunteers on the 16th?
