progress report 2, carpeting

Another wonderful day in the carpet world...

This morning Peter brought tools, shop-vac, and boxes, and Ashley and I
finished packing up the library in boxes. We all moved desks etc out of
the way for two carpet segments just in case things went that well
later...

This evening Don showed up with an incredibly energetic team of young men.
By the time I arrived at ten til seven, they had moved the wooden
shelves, moved furniture out of the way in IS, moved a big desk, spread
out carpet segments, and had begun taking up the carpeting and scraping
the floor. They made short work of that!

Don had recruited Kim, a young man who installs carpet for Colour Your
World, whom he knew in years past. Kim arrived in time to measure, cut,
and glue, and he brought some great tools of the trade and an attention to
detail. We've installed one piece of carpeting and you cannot see the
seam unless you're really looking for it!

Tomorrow evening Don's lads will move furniture onto the new carpeting,
tear up the last segment, and scrape that floor. Saturday morning Kim
will return to help install the remaining segments. Sunday morning Don's
volunteers will move furniture back where it goes, and at 6 pm a number of
us will converge to put back all the small stuff and begin the task of
reshelving the library. Ashley will finish, next week, what we can't do
Sunday night.

It's going swimmingly. Thought you'd like to know.

I awake each morning torn between a desire to save the world, and a desire
to savour the world. This makes it hard to plan my day.
