Hi everyone, welcome to the list newsletter@lists.cleannorth.org
I've gone and refurbished the newsletter email list, for planning
purposes. So far the subscribers include: me, Mark Dunn, Dan Brosemer,
Tim Lynham, Suzanne Hanna, Jack Donald, Don McGorman, and Peter McLarty.
I tried to include anyone who is a regular contributor but not cast the
net so widely as to annoy people who don't want to participate in
planning. If I've missed anyone who wants to be included, or if any of
you doesn't want to be included and I've erred in subscribing you, please
let me know and I'll make corrections right away.
The purposes of this list are to make it easier to communicate amongst
ourselves as we go about volunteering to write articles for the paper
newsletter, and getting them to the editor for layout. Some of you have
expressed interest in knowing what others are working on, to avoid overlap
of effort, so this should help. It should also be of use during layout,
when the editor can put out a general call for 100 more words on
something, for example, to fill an available space.
When replying to a message, if it's on the same topic, use "reply all" or
the equivalent in your email program, so that your reply will go to the
list and not just to the person who wrote the message you're replying to.
If it's a different topic, start a new message rather than replying.
Also, please use the Subject line well. In future, we may be trying to
find a piece of information in the archives, and a good Subject line can
save a lot of time.
Attachments can be a problem in these lists. The lists aren't designed
for attaching large files such as ones that might be created by a word
processing program. In general, most newsletter material should be
emailed directly to the editor rather than being sent here. If you do
want everyone to review what you're sending in, paste it into the body of
the message rather than attaching it. In fact, the editor would prefer
that too unless you have a specific reason (like a table or other
preformatted work, in which case you should ask him how he'd like it
handled).
As with all of our lists, messages to this one are stored in a publicly
accessible website, so be polite and remember Clean North's reputation and
your own. Thank you.
Kathie

I awake each morning torn between a desire to save the world, and a desire
to savour the world. This makes it hard to plan my day.
