Three fall events: 1. Sept 21, Saturday, Scavenger Day (Scrounge Day) - the put-stuff-at-the-curb-and-watch-it-disappear event. The following week is free week at the landfill, so this is the time! We have $ from Canada Trust to print an announcement/FREE sign, and circulate it via Sault This Week. 2. Next BOYD. October when? 3. Mulch day at Rome's. Donna at Rome's is up for it. Repeat of last year's event, we need a date. Saturday the 21st is taken (unless we think we can do both Scavenger Day and this on the same day - S Day won't take our time on the actual day, just all the preparation, publicity, leadup). New possible twists: A. Peter has some nice potted up "yearling" trees he suggests we sell for a toonie - only about a hundred of them, so first-come, first-served. Peter, Don, are there any baby trees also available from anywhere? B. Suzanne says the Hort Society is looking at a fall plant sale. Could join us on that day. C. I recall Susan Richards from New North once suggesting that planting flats and nursery pots could be reused (unfortunately not those cell-packs though). So we could advertise a reuse event, select any nice 6 in pots that Don and Peter want for future tree projects, and turn over the rest to Susan. I would need to verify this with her first before we could say anything. D. Any other tree/mulch related ideas? Please suggest dates for BOYD and for Mulch Day thanks k
