1. The End of Suburbia - film next Sunday - don't miss it!
Clean North's favourite young people are showing a mind-altering documentary next Sunday. The End of Suburbia describes the peak of oil production and its fall - and thus the end of ridiculously cheap oil supplies. What will be the impact on the lifestyles of the rich and famously wasteful (us North Americans)? Don't miss this one. 7 pm at Algoma University.
2. Urgent Action on Ontario's Energy - Deadline tomorrow!
Greetings all:
The World Wildlife Fund, The Sierra Club of Canada, The David Suzuki Foundation, and The Ontario Clean Air Alliance have joined forces to communicate the message that implementing efficiency, conservation and renewable energy to their full potential is the best option for Ontario, and that these strategies are much better than the alternative of building or refurbishing more nuclear power plants in Ontario.
So far over 250 people have sent emails to Premier McGuinty and the Environmental Bill of Rights Registry (EBR) supporting sustainable energy options and opposing nuclear power from these groups joint web site: http://www.cleanair.web.ca/cg/
However, Premier McGuinty and the EBR need to get many more emails to convince them that there is a huge groundswell of opposition to the OPA Supply Mix Advice Report that is currently promoting a nuclear expansion in Ontario.
Please take a minute to ask everyone on your email lists to go to http://www.cleanair.web.ca/cg/ to send a message to Premier regarding the best and most sustainable electricity options.
Please remember that the deadline for EBR comments is February 12th so your help is crucial now to show that the people of Ontario want sustainable, safe, non-radioactive, reliable options.
Thanks in advance for your help.
