1. Three cool websites
Abby Obenchain sent in these two interesting sites:

2. The Horticulture Society Plant Sale
This is turning into one huge event! Not quite the Chelsea Flower Show, but then you don't need an air ticket to England to attend. Saturday May 28th, 8 am to noon. United Baptist Church on Malabar.
You can purchase trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, vegetable and herb seedlings, garden accessories & decor, compost, rainbarrels, bat houses, you name it if it goes in a garden you'll find it there. Even some houseplants! All funds raised stay in SSM to support the good work of the Hort Society, garden programs for children and seniors, Horticulture Therapy at the hospitals, the Rose Garden at Bellevue Park.
You can also donate unwanted plants and other things. New this year is a "nearly-new" table for gently used garden tools and decorative accessories.
To donate, drop off stuff at the church on Thurs the 26th of May, between 1 and 7 pm. (Friday too but PLEASE do Thursday instead, ok? Give the volunteers a break!)
To volunteer, phone Suzanne at 759-2893.
Right now, well in advance of the sale, they are desperately in need of planting pots and flats. If you have any, you can drop them off at Suzanne's house. Phone her at 759-2893. Thank you!

3. The Allard Street Community Garden garage sale
If you've got stuff accumulating for a garage sale, but no energy or time to do one yourself, here's a deserving group that will take the stuff off your hands.
The Allard Street Community Garden, a project of the Horticulture Society, Clean North, and many other local partners, is holding its fundraising garage sale on June 18th. Save your stuff for this event! And plan to attend to find a treasure or two, also.
After the Hort Society plant sale is over, you can call Suzanne back about this one, and find out when/where to drop off stuff. Give her a little time to catch her breath, ok? Thanks!

4. Our results from computer recycling
I'm writing a full report for the next paper newsletter, but here's a summary: Great Success!
We loaded 34 pallets of stuff (the first transport took 24) for recycling, made $1800 plus what will come in later from sale of ink and toner cartridges and cell phones, donated 11 systems to six organizations submitting charity wishlists, and brought ten systems back to the CN office to sell later. No injuries beyond a paper cut or two, and we were cleaned up and out of there in record time, too!
Thanks to:
TransProvincial Freight (shipping) SSM PUC (building and electricity) City of SSM (moving tables, recycling of paper and cardboard, pallet jack) Sault College (tables) local Katimaviktims (lots of labour) Culligan Water (free water for volunteers)
As mentioned, we have ten systems for sale. These are Pentium IIs, complete with kb, mouse, monitor, power cables, for $100. First come, first served, and they do vary a bit in RAM, hard drive capacity, and extras such as CD rom drives or network cards. If you're in the market for a spare for a young teen at your house, please phone the office at 945-1573 before we start advertising to the general public.

5. Newsletter deadline June 1.
Got stuff to say? Here's your chance!
Email ed@cleannorth.org with your contributions, whether original or copied (we'll sort out permissions to reprint if needed). Articles, poems, cartoons, book reviews, green product reviews, personal experiences with environmental issues... we love to read your stuff.
thanks!

6. HSW depot opens this weekend
But don't go!
They'll be swamped with the usual can't-wait-to-get-rid-of-it crowd. If you can wait until next weekend, or even two weeks, please give the folks at the depot a break.
9 am to 4 pm, Friday and Saturday, until the end of October. Watch for announcement of an expanded schedule, possibly opening Thursdays.
