Dear Clean North members: This weekend is the first annual Earth Day World's Fair, to be held at Algoma's Water Tower Inn, in the back parking lot. Recycling opportunities, green products and services, tree chip mulch and Lemieux compost for your garden, freebies for the kids, demonstrations, music, food and more! A highlight is the Sault Cycling Club bike swap (drop off Saturday, purchase Sunday), and another is the Water Tower's surplus furniture sale on the Saturday. Bring recyclables to drop off and you get RecycleBucks from the Water Tower Inn, good on food and drink in the Lone Star or on a visit to Club Cabana Spa. Watch for the big (2/3 page!) ad in the Sault Star. Hours are 10 am to 8 pm Saturday, 1 to 5 pm Sunday. We expect thousands of people! If you are planning the weekend's activities, we could sure use you and several other volunteers. We need people to: 1) Watch the bins for corrugate cardboard, blankets, and eyeglasses, and give people "stamps" in their passports according to a schedule the Water Tower Inn has designated - it's quite generous re: the number of stamps per recyclable item dropped off. Two people for corrugate, one for the other two bins. 2) Be at the Clean North table handing out passports and Clean North membership brochures. One person should be enough here, two hour stints throughout. 3) Help out at the furniture sale/garage sale in the small shed. There's not a lot of stuff this time, so one or two people, plus one "carrier" to help people with purchases. This is only for Saturday, not Sunday. 4) Help at the fabric swap table. Andrea and Sara from the office are organizing this and will spend lots of time here, but your help is still needed! 5) Help at the tree chip pile, with shovels to help people take away chips. One or two people at a time in shifts. 6) Help with set up and take down of all the tables, equipment, supplies, stage, etc. on Saturday from about 8:30 am. and again on Sunday at 5 pm. Also a bit of help putting things away for the night Sat night. Derek will take the tables, etc. to the office on Sunday at 5 in his Suburban. Looking for help getting things from the office to the site Saturday morning. We have ordered fantastic weather for the weekend - sunny and 20 degrees! Wear sunscreen! And call the office 945-1573, or call kathie 949-3862, or email kathie@cleannorth.org if you can help out. This is going to be fantastic! -------- This message is being sent to Clean North members who have given us their email addresses.
