the future of BOYD

FYI...for those who have been out of the loop...

There is a proposal going to City Council Monday evening Mar.17...the essence of which would see Community Living Algoma run a year-round (Tues-Sat) operation of collecting e-waste at the old National Grocers warehouse at 285 Wilson St. They will also be collecting styro-foam and more materials may be added in the future. At its January meeting CN endorsed the proposal and "offered assistamce". This project will give the CLA clients some meaningful work and a small income.

I am 100% in favour of the project and have volunteered to be the CN liason. I am hoping that a few of our "volunteers" will also see the benefits of this venture and are willing to help "train" the clients on the "BOYD" processes...triage, diassembly, re-asembly, sales, shipping.

If you would like to help in anyway please respond to me ..peter@cleannorth.org

If you are politically motivated, it would not hurt for you to contact your Councillors via email before Monday evening to show your support. Should the proposal fail to get Council support, CN could be doing BOYD for ever!...but you would count me out.

I look forward to hearing from you..

Regards

Peter McLarty
