next BOYD

At the meeting last night, it was decided that April 28 this year would be our last BOYD. Starting in May, the city will be accepting ewaste at the HSWD.

Plan A...if the PUC building is available, we will run under the usual format.

Plan B...if the PUC building is NOT available, we will hold the event at the HSWD on the same date. There will only be a drop-off...NO resale, NO rebuild...we may be be able to scavenge systems for a wish-list. Randy would have to get approval from the City. ALL workers would have to undergo safety training in order to be allowed on site!!!

Plan C...if the city does not approve...we would have an outdoor event (at a public location, possibly the Rhodes Center) and it would be simply a drop-off with palletizing and loading the transport...NO SCAVENGIING!!!

Regardless of the format, there will have to be a strong educational component of the next event. Randy Roy will work with us on this aspect.

I will do some prep work before I leave on vacation. Mary Jane will have a list of what has to be done and will attempt to coordinate things in my absence.

It was also decided last night that we will no longer be collecting laser/toner cartridges. The industry is changing daily. They decide on a day-to-day basis what cartridges they will accept. We have to get approval BEFORE shipping...we have to email a list of all makes and models which we have, and then they tell us which ones they will accept. ...the rest we have to landfill!!!

At this point there is no hassle with inkjets, so we will still accept them....at least for the time being!

Peter
