Re: Scavenging

Here's the current plan:

All volunteers (techies and otherwise) will be given a sheet on which to
record anything they want to take home with them. Anything that doesn't
make it to the sale table _must_ be recorded on the sheet. And there will
be a firm statement on that form, that "free" scavenging at the end of the
day will be limited to the truly dead and the stuff that didn't sell.
Anything that isn't dead, and didn't go to the sale table, will be
purchased by the person holding on to it - for a fair price.

There will be a "last call" for parts, etc. that people think would sell as
parts, but had hung onto to put into a working system to sell. So people
won't be allowed to hold onto something until 5 minutes to 4, then put it
on the table hoping it won't sell in that time.

After we close the sale at 4 pm, we have 1.5 hrs during which we can't move
the stuff through the mall and onto the truck - meaning that all the
volunteers are going to have a party. Also, the sale staff, the moving
crew, and the lead organizers are going to be available to sort through
stuff - and if things didn't make it to the sale table, people wanting them
will be asked to pay for them.

Everyone will have to deal with Suzanne Hanna about that - and Suzanne is
very firm about making $ for Clean North - and has always paid for the
stuff she's taken home with her from these sales before. She won't
tolerate stashers.

And, helpful "reminders" from those of us who have seen the problem in the
past, would help. So, if you notice someone putting something under the
table, go over and pull it out. Ask if it's on their list. If so, tell
them in a friendly way, to put their name on it in masking tape so it won't
disappear. If not, stand there smiling at them until they put it on their
list. If all of us take this on, it will do a lot to minimize this problem.

Also, since all the genuine Clean North people seem to know about these
stashers, I would greatly appreciate people telling me who they are, so we
can make sure not to invite them back.

thanks all of you - your suggestions are great.
